*Wright's Master Sheet says she was launched 12/5/1843;
**She displaced 685 tons and was the first iron-hulled vessel in the U.S. Naby;;
Machinery: Inclined direct actins engine built by Stackhouse, Tomlinson & Company, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Cylinders: (2) 36" diameter x 8' stroke; Wheels: Radial 22' diameter; Boilers: (2), Steam pressure: 15 +1/2 pounds;
She was rigged as a Barkentine in 1843;
Armament: (12), 32 pound cannonades, (2), 68 pounders; in 1844 she had (1), 18 pounder;
She was built in pieces at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and transferred to Cleveland, Ohio through the Ohio - Erie Canal; Then the pieces were shipped to Erie to be pieced together; She was accepted by the Government on 8/15/1844;
In 1905, she was renamed and used as a training vessel for the U. S. Naval Reserve; She was designated IX-31 during World War I; Finally, in 1949, she was dismantled and turned into a monument of her existence (bow and cutwater) at Erie, Pennsylvania;
