Notes
General notes:
*She is decayed so much that she requires to be totally renewed;
Built for Lake Erie and upper lakes service;
5/14/1801, noted at Amherstburg as the snow "Ottaway";
Michigan Pioneer Collection, Vol. 12, p. 69, 70, refer to the "Ottawa" as being in service on the upper lakes, July 17, 1793. This means she was not built in 1794 as Cuthbertson indicates;
**She was mishandled while heaving her down at the King's Wharf;
Michigan Pioneer Collection, Vol. 24, p. 618: The British return of marine establishment in the province of Lower and Upper Canada, 1793, lists the Ottawa at 100 tons and armed with 6 guns;
Telescope, Vol. 31, Number 4, July - August: claims she was in service as early as 1791; (this could not be confirmed);
Macpherson claims she is first noted on Lake Ontario in 1792, armed with six guns; (this could not be confirmed);
