Notes
General notes:
* J. H. Beers, History of the Great Lakes, has this vessel built in 1771 at Detroit, Michigan with a gross tonnage of 66.
George A. Cuthbertson, Freshwater, says that the Angelica was built by the British at Navy Island in 1778. James C.
Mills, Our Inland Seas, mentions a 45 ton Angelica and a 64 ton Angelica, but fails to mention a place of built for either.
It is possible that the Angelica could have been built in 1771 and rebuilt in 1778 and listed as a new vessel.
**Cuthbertson gives width as 19.6' which is an error;
***Vessel is owned by Alexander Grant, but is employed by the British Government;
At one time she carried an armament of four swivels and nine muskets.
Michigan Pioneer Collection, Vol. 24, p. 12: List of his Majesty's armed vessels on Lake Erie, 1783, has the Angelica
built at Detroit in 1772, 59 tons, and lost in November, 1783;
1777, armed with six swivels, noted as not worthy of repairs;
Telescope, Vol. 31, Number 4, July - August: says badly damaged while in winter layup at Mackinac Island, December,
1780;
Macpherson list her wrecked in December, 1783;
